About Jay & Grain
Jay & Grain is a small woodshop project by Jay Smith, focused on handcrafted furniture, endgrain cutting boards, and custom hardwood pieces.
The work blends a Chicago-born sense of utility with two decades of California influence — clean, warm, practical, and made to last.
Black walnut is a favorite material for its depth, strength, and timeless character, but each piece is shaped around the wood, the use case, and the person it is being made for.
